Maintenance & Reliability Manager

The Maintenance & Reliability manager is responsible for the management and oversight for all aspects of the maintenance department. Includes managing the upkeep of all manufacturing and facility assets, managing maintenance budget and resources and assisting the design and installation of new equipment, systems and / or repairs. Manages the overall mechanical reliability and predictive/preventative maintenance programs as well as designing and implementing long-term continuous improvement applications. Will manage and develop a proactive maintenance process and oversee its organization, scheduling, and implementation while simultaneously leading, supervising the maintenance personnel to ensure plant facilities and equipment are properly maintained and repaired to optimize plant operations. Ensure safe work practices and procedures are observed.  Utilize internal AX (ERP) operating system. The incumbent also will back up the Reliability Engineer and Storeroom/CMMS Administrator. Knowledge and the ability to perform these roles improves organizational robustness and security in the Maintenance department.

Dover Chemical’s maintenance mechanic positions are responsible for maintaining and improving various pieces of manufacturing equipment, vessels and piping. Dover manufactures chemical additives shipped in drums, sacks, RR cars, and tank cars for the plastics, rubber, drilling, and metalworking for both domestic and international customers.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Previous manufacturing maintenance experience desired, but a strong mechanical aptitude is an absolute must.  
  • 5+ years proven industrial maintenance experience is preferred, but the requirement is waived if you test in to the Mechanic Apprenticeship Program.
  • Chemical industry experience preferred.
  • High school graduate required, technical school education preferred.   Proficiency reading drawings, manuals, measuring/installing pipe, pumps, valves, meters, gear boxes, and general equipment installation, repair or replacement is desired.
  • Must have analytical skills, proven ability to troubleshoot and multi-task in a fast-paced working environment.
  • Must be able to lift or move up to 80 lb. occasionally and 50 lb. frequently.
  • Must pass pre-employment test, pre-employment physical, drug screen, and background check.

JOB SUMMARY:

JOB SUMMARY:

The Maintenance Planner/Scheduler plans and schedules all maintenance work including day-to-day activities, one- day outages, and major shutdowns. In addition, the incumbent provides leadership and coaching to the maintenance team in driving them to achieve work objectives and performance standards.

The Maintenance Planner/Scheduler assists the plant in providing the necessary maintenance resources and record keeping that is required to increase plant productivity, assist in maintenance work preparations to improve work efficiencies and increase plant performance.

The Maintenance Planner/Scheduler will provide lead technical, business support and analysis for and within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) inclusive of support of asset management, work planning and spare parts inventory within the software. Coordinates the interface of the CMMS system, procedures and data transfer to various departments and databases. Ensures all CMMS procedures are developed and followed throughout the organization.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED. Advanced degree/certification(s) in technical and/or maintenance related discipline preferred.

• Two to five (2-5) years of industrial experience in a chemical plant or other related industry experience. Experience working in a union environment a plus.

• One to three (1-3) years’ maintenance and supervisory experience.

• Must have a minimum of one to three (1-3) years’ maintenance planner / scheduler experience.

• Working knowledge of chemical plant equipment (pumps, piping, heat exchangers, vessels, instrumentation, etc.).

• Background in maintenance and repair of equipment to effectively plan daily maintenance department activities.

• Experience working and managing on a PSM site. PHA and MOC experience are strongly preferred.

• Strong working knowledge of chemical of chemical manufacturing systems and processes.

• I must have strong and experienced project management skills,

• One to three (1-3) years’ MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Operating materials) Inventory Management Experience.

Technical Knowledge:

• Strong “troubleshooting / diagnostic” skills.

• Experience working in both batch and continuous operations.

• Knowledge of Federal / State EPA and OSHA compliance standards.

• Six Sigma knowledge and training a plus.

• Must have experience using Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

• Experience using ERP preferred.

• Must have prior experience in stores MRO management, Inventory Control.

• Proficient with ERP systems a plus.

Work Skill and Abilities:

• Must be able to identify and prioritize multiple projects and perform work with a constant awareness of improving processes.

• Demonstrated capability to analyze and troubleshoot operational and equipment problems and provide reasonable and accurate recommendations and solutions.

Instrumentational Electrician

JOB SUMMARY: 

This position is one with emphasis on both instrumentation and electrical work. Work with instrumentation includes installing, maintaining, and repairing/replacing automated valves and field instrumentation. This position also requires the maintenance and troubleshooting of the plant’s process control systems and equipment. Electrical work includes installing, maintaining, and repairing/replacing electrical wire and conduit, switches, motor control centers and breakers, and other electrical equipment.

DIMENSIONS:

The Hammond Indiana facility is comprised of five distinct manufacturing lines: HiTEC, HiTemp, Sulfurization, Functional Additives, and Blends. The facility operates under ISO 9001 and RCMS guidelines and is required to comply with and adhere to strict OSHA/EPA regulatory protocols and regulations. The facility is also a Title V operation and operates under the appropriate guidelines. The Hammond plant operation manufactures approximately 80MM pounds and $75-100M of specialty chemicals annually. The Hammond, Indiana site is unionized and represented by the United Steel Workers Union

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education and Experience

 High school or general education degree (GED).

  • At least five (5) years of industrial experience in a chemical plant or other related industry experience.
  • Knowledgeable in the installation and repair of various types of process control and instrumentation.
  • Able to read and follow system blueprints and P&ID drawings.

Technical Knowledge

  6. Understand instrument and electrical manuals and effectively communicate with manufacturing representatives and vendors.
  7. Computer skills are a must with knowledge of CMMS, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, and MS PowerPoint.

  9. Must possess organization and interpersonal skills.
  10. Ability to prioritize tasks and work on multiple projects simultaneously.

JOB SUMMARY: 

The First Helper supports production operations by assisting operators in safe and efficient processing of chemical products. Responsibilities include preparing raw materials, monitoring equipment, handling packaging, performing basic maintenance tasks, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. The First Helper plays a critical role in maintaining clean work areas, following standard operating procedures (SOPs), and responding promptly to supervisor instructions to ensure smooth plant operations.
